Trivia: Did you know…that Wonder Woman is worthy of wielding Thor’s hammer?

Wonder Woman sparked a global discussion. Why is this such a big deal? Well, not only was it the first Wonder Woman movie, it was also the first superhero movie with a female lead (Gal Gadot) and the first major superhero movie to have a female director (Patty Jenkins).  Show your love for Wonder Woman with one of our Women Wonder Woman Costumes or Girls Wonder Woman Costumes! Or try our kits for the perfect Wonder Woman Costume.

Similar, but not identical to Wonder Woman’s outfit in the comics, the Wonder Woman costume in the movie also sparked controversy. Director Patty Jenkins explained her choices by saying: “When people get super critical about her outfit, who’s the one getting crazy about what a woman wears? That’s who she is; that’s Wonder Woman. I want her to look like my childhood fantasy (…) So let her be the every glorious thing that she is. Including hot and beautiful and sexy and loving and great and kind”.

Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman costume consists of a metallic version of the traditional red corset and blue skirt, with the Wonder Woman tiara and armbands; while some have complained that her costume is “skimpy”, variety.com points out that “As skimpy as Gadot’s outfits may get, for example, Jenkins’ camera never leers or lingers gratuitously — Diana is always framed as an agent of power, rather than its object.” Inspired by the movie’s costumes? Wonder Woman Cosplay

A picture is worth a thousand words: if this fierce Wonder Woman cosplay doesn’t inspire you to dress up as Wonder Woman, I don’t know what will. The cosplayer’s bold pose and facial expression really help the look come together, and, while she chose to wear pants rather than a skirt, every other part of the outfit, from the cuffs and the lasso to the boots and the red corset, is taken straight from the movie.

Emma Watson as Wonder Woman

In celebration of Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling’s birthday, Emma Watson (forever Hermione Granger) posted a throwback photo of herself, Rowling, and fellow HP actress Evanna Lynch (aka Luna Lovegood). The three were shot at some sort of costume party–Watson is dressed as Wonder Woman, Lynch as some sort of mystical cat, and Rowling sported a glamorous black halter dress with gory face paint, a horn sprouting from her forehead.

The evolution of Wonder Woman's iconic costume

The iconic superhero, presently played by Israeli actress Gal Gadot, has never stopped evolving her look from her debut in 1941 to her big screen solo breakout in 2017. The 2019 sequel is apparently not seeking to break with tradition, with one source saying that the Amazon warrior princess will don “battle gear” for her fight against the USSR and the villainous Cheetah.

Wonder Woman 1984 Reportedly Doing Reshoots

While the mention of reshoots might make some DC fans nervous, it’s pretty common for big-budget films to fine-tune things and do pick-ups in the time leading up to their release. Granted, there’s no telling exactly what the extent of WW84‘s reshoots are, as fans will most likely have to wait until December to see a trailer for the film.
