Scarecrow Wizard of Oz Costume
The scarecrow costume is another all time favorite from the wizard of oz costume collection. It is especially popular among the younger age groups and is well suited for young adults and kids. It’s a very versatile costume! You could go for a cute scarecrow costume (especially for children), or for a spookier version of the character by playing with makeup.
Wicked Witch Costumes
The Wicked Witch of the West is probably one of the coolest characters in The Wizard of Oz. She even got her own spin-off musical, Wicked! The musical shows there’s more to the Wicked Witch than the books and movies make it seem. She’s a complex character in her own right, and she’s fun to dress up as! Just make sure you use good quality green makeup.

Somewhere over the rainbow, The State of Things is celebrating the 80th anniversary of the film adaptation of “The Wizard of Oz.” The 1939 movie is best known for its hit musical numbers, fantastical plotline and use of Technicolor. Judy Garland’s career took off after she portrayed Dorothy Gale on her journey through the magical land of Oz, and the film has since become an American cultural touchstone.
In this regular feature series on some of the most talked-about films, we examine the legacy of classics, re-evaluate modern blockbusters, and revisit some of the most memorable lines in film.
Actress-singer Judy Garland paved her way into movie history at the age of 16 by skipping down the yellow brick road in a blue gingham dress and sparkling ruby red slippers as Dorothy Gale in the 1939 MGM movie musical, The Wizard of Oz.
But the role almost went to another multi-talented child star: 11-year-old Shirley Temple.
